Airbag Light On '99 Sierra

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you could help me out with this problem. I changed the cluster in my '99 so I could have the trans temp gauge, the second I plugged the new one in the airbag light cam on, thinking it was defective I switched back to my old one to find the same problem. I took it to a buddy at GM who put it on the Tech II to find the airbag system is working as it should and can see no reason for the light. I was wondering could this be something GM has done to stop people from tampering with the odometers? Does anyone know how to fix this that doesn't include a black marker or electrical tape?

Nope, 99s will do this when putting in a newer cluster. Something is different with the air bag warning on the 1999. If you stick with a 99 it will not do this, Its only when you use a later year cluster and only the 1999 model year does this.

 

I have seen a few threads on this. If I run across one I will post it.
