Need Some Help

i have a 2004 1500 4x2 with the 5.3...i'm having an issue with the DIC saying service brake booster soon..i had it checked everything was ok according to the mechanics, they had to update my computer? anyway i had the message flash again yesterday and after about 2 miles it went away by itself..what could have caused this? the break pedal seems to work ok not stiff....problem two, i checked my power steering today and it was down to the add line, i beleive it is factory fluid in it, i could not find any leaks, is there any explanation for this? and my last problem is what would you all recommend as far as brake fluid being flushed? mines a watery brown color with a weird odor, would this improve my breaking? it seems like i have to push the pedal down quite a ways to get any reaction from the brakes...thanks in advance

You didn't say how many miles on the truck or since the last break relining. Lower fluid is natural as pads/shoes wear. A full brake bleed would be warranted based on your description.
