Compression Restore?

when I bought my truck it had done its time going down dirt roads, also someone was kind enough to leave the intake half off the throttle body.

It was really dirty but has been cleaned since

Also now that ive fixed all of my oil leaks ive realised it still uses as small amount of oil, so im guessing that the cylinder walls are a bit scared up from all the dust sucked in.

now, next question is there any kind of compression revitalizer out there that is worth a shit.

Also I understand that there is simply NOTHING additive wise, that will do what a engine rebuild can do.

they claim to do different things but possibly using them together (at different times) could be a decent strategy.

You didn't say how much oil it is using. If less that a quart every 1,000 miles or more I would forget it. GM wouldn't even do anything about it if it was brand new and was using that amount.

I used Restore on a previous Nissan truck I owned and it worked. It reduced the oil it was using, no more puff of smoke when I shifted and seemed to make better power. I was driving 60 miles a day to/from work then and it made a difference in that truck.

it doesnt use alot probably under a quart every thousand miles.

but its just annoying, a 1995 TBI350 truck i bought for 400$ could go 1,000000000000 miles and the dipstick wouldnt change.

it just seems a truck 5 years newer with less mileage should not use much at all.

Lucas oil.

I'd try this stuff. I've used the Heavy duty oil stabilizer and got good results, or go with a thicker weight oil. you could also check your PCV valve, it can cause high oil consumption.

+1 on the restore. Put it in an old ford i had and it did work for awhile but after the next oil change you couldn't tell anymore. For what your burning though I wouldn't worry about it. Save money on it and buy yourself a 6 pack and going do something else.

Lucas is junk, and the only thing I have ever seen help an engine that has been dusted besides an overhaul, is to clean it out as soon as possible to minimise the wear. The dirt mixes with the oil and acts like a lapping compound, continuing the wearing on everything, even though you have removed the cause. What I do is decrease the oil change interval time to a maximum of 1000k and before I change it I add a quart of ATF the day before I plan on changing the oil. With it overfilled it will splash around a lot and with ATF being a very high detergent it will remove the sludge that has dirt in it. If you do that three times then you will know what you have if it still burns to much oil and you don't want to live with it, then you have choices used or overhaul.
