Major Popping In Suspension- 2005 Avalanche

Recommended Posts

Posted

Have a 05 Avalanche, 4x4, stock suspension, with 65K miles. Just recently, the suspension makes some pretty heavy popping sounds on both sides of vehicle when in a slow turn and can actually feel them on the floorboards. It sounds like it's about mid-way back on truck, like right under the front seats. I have been under the truck inspecting everything, and see nothing out of the norm or worn. Could it be the torsion bars just rotating a little in the seat? Don't notice at all when at highway speed, just at parking lot speeds. No notice in handling either.

PS: Anybody know a good product to bring back the luster of the Avalanche bed covers that doesn't attract dirt? (Live on a dirt road)

I know you said it's sounds like it's located in the center, but is it possible it could be comming from the rear? Do you have a G-80 Locking Diff? My old 99 started making all kinds of popping noises which I could feel thru the floor when turning, ended up being my G-80 going kablooey. Also check to make sure your transfer case has fluid in it. I had an issue where the Slip Yoke seal went bad and most of the T-Case fluid leaked out and I was only left with 1/4 of a cup when I noticed it.
