jlemaire1 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 i just need a little advice or problem solving help.i have a 350 turbo trans in an 85 gmc and when i put it into gear i have to rev it up to get it into gear.there is no stall converter in it.i was wondering could it be the oil pump,the vacuum module.it has a new torque converter on it also,it is a stock replacement.confused and not able to figure this out any help would be greatly appreciated.

How's the fluid level? Low fluid would cause this. Other than that...it could be one of the other two you stated.
Zembonez Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Turbo 350 and 400 transmissions had problems over time with valves sticking in the valve body. They were pre-electronic versions.
minibike132 Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Is this just the first start after it sits. For instance if you took it for a drive, put it in park then put it in gear would it delay or would it take right off? If it's the just after sitting I think the 350 had a check valve in the pump but I can't remember for sure.

Try a new modulator valve...they're really cheap...other than that....I haven't worked on a T/H 350 in at least 5 years.
