Do I Have Remote Start?

My sticker says I have remote start but I think the salemen said it just CAPABLE. How does it function so I can try?

Look in your glovebox on the SPID label for "AP8"...This is the code for the remote start prep package,If you have AP8 you can order the GM accessory package and remote start can be added.

Do you have four buttons on your remote? If so press the lock button until it beeps. Then press the "circle arrow" button until the lights flash. The engine will start and run until the interior warms up.

Yes I have remote starter. I feel like such an idiot. That s what I get for listening to the salemen...

A lot of newer vehicles have the programming in the modules for options that you don't have, only because it is easier to have one program for all options and the disable some or not give you a remote with the remote start button. Your truck may very well have it but it was not a paid for option new so you got the remotes w/o it. Like MS3Dale says check the build codes and you may just need a remote prorammed to your truck.... Getting a dealer to just program a remote and not sell you the "remote start package" is another story, lol. Let us know what happens with it.

No, your not understanding me. I have the remote start that is operating. I went out and tried it, it s there and it works. After 4K miles I just found it, that why I felt so dumb.

Sticker says AP3 remote system and PDD convience package/ remote start. So either myself or the salemen was confused at delivery.

I just realized after 20K that the NAV cd player reads MP3 discs... just have to give it a few extra seconds to recognize them, I too was pleasantly suprised.

Look how long I ve been hanging around here , Of Coarse I read the OWNERS MANUAL, I just skipped that section because I was told mine was not remote starter ready

Why would I read the section on heated seats if I don t have them

thats not bad, my dad took his back to dealer because he said the windows wont roll up, they had to show him how to lift the buttons. I told him to call me next time.

I literally just purchased a 2008 Silverado yesterday and was wondering the same question. I have the AP8 package as well, from what I read/understand it's not cheap to have the remotes / vehicle programmed, but it can be done.
