Anyone have pics / description of the factory cats? I would imagine they're your standard high flow honeycomb style, but something is keeping the sound down significantly and unless it's the boat anchors, it has to be the cats. Considering a swap to Maggie Spun Cats. Thanks!!!

What are you running for a muffler?

I run a Flowmaster super 44 and its anything but quiet.

the stock cats are high flow units...yes.

Yup, they look just like you described.

I've got the spun cats on mine, but I only replaced them because the OEM cats were bad after 180/185k. There was a noticeable sound increase, no performance increase, and a decent mileage increase.

I'd only replace them if your current ones aren't functioning properly.

It's the 4x9x14 case... the 11" wasn't available in 3" i/o.

Flowmaster????

What series?

What engine do you have...

I mean...if you want it loud....Flowmaster 40's or 44's are about as loud as cans come...you can go to glass packs if you want really loud and obnoxious.

I dont really know how loud you expect your truck to be....

My bad, I thought I said in the OP. It's a Magnaflow. My first actually. Sounds good, but pretty tame. I took a 3 hr. trip today so it broke in and got a little more aggressive. I think I can live with it. I F150 is effin' LOUD. Stainless longtubes, Maggie Spun-cats, OBX ss exhaust pipe, 12"-14" Dynamax Bullet to 4" turn-down

Yeah...Magnaflow is pretty quiet...but a lot less drone than a Flowie or glasspacks.

Headers will help you get a little louder.

Cats...well unless you chop them out...its still a chamber that will reduce sound.

Smaller tail pipes will give you a louder sound...if you went with a 2.5" tail you would be a little higher on the db scale...but it would be a higher pitch...the large pipes give you a deeper more mellow tone.

Like it has already been stated, the OEM cats are hi flow already, so no need to change them out unless you need to (ie. plugged cats).
