Hey all,

Got a 6 inch lift put on my 2005 GMC Sierra and dont know if this has anything to do it with it, but When I put it in reverse and/or turn wheel sharp and drive it gives and awful sound like I am contacting something I am not suppose to be. Sounds like something grapping and giving a click, snap, pop noises when rolling..Please respond with any advice you can give,,Thanks

Sounds like you have a CV joint going bad on you.

I have a 6" on my '97 and so far, I am up to 8....yes 8 half axles (CV's). They start snapping like twigs once you get them angled a little bit and will pop and snap and sound like your front end is falling apart. To check them, grab the shaft in the middle, between the uper and lower boot and give it a shake. If it is solid with ZERO! play, then its good and go check the other one. If one of them shakes a little bit, its time to replace it and trust me, you will definetly tell when one is bad when you grab it and jerk it back and forth to check for play. Yes, I have done alot of them and have it down to a science. This is why my dana 44 is sitting in a shop waiting for my truck to go on top of it.
