Thermostat Location On 5.3

This is probably a silly question and I couldn't find the answer in the 'search' on the forum.

 

But where is the thermostat on a 5.3??

I've changed dozens on 5.7 and 5.0 and the t-stat has always been right at the end of the upper rad hose in a hosing....2 bolts and there she was.

 

The upper rad hose on my 5.3 seems to end at a large housing including the water pump. Its not in there is it?

Could it be on the lower rad hose??

HRMMMM, follow the lower hose from the radiator to the bottom of the water pump. That connection is the thermostat.... Welcome to the LS world.....
