Anyone Know My Grear Ratio?

i have a 94 z71 ext cab 4x4 with a 5.7l engine. i just blew out the diff plate and i need to get a new rear. does anyone know what gear ratio came with that truck. and the sticker's numbers in the glove box are warn off. i dont have the tools to get the cover off to check the ring gear. i need to order one from the junk yard. can anyone help me with this problem?

Jack the rear and put a mark on the drive shaft. Turn the tire one full revolution and count how many times the drive shaft turns.

 

3.5ish is 3:42

3.75ish would be 3:73

and so on....

 

At least this worked on my 48 willy.

what is your vin number? There is a site that will decode it for you and it should list the gear ratio there.

I would venture to say that you had the 3:73. Just currious to know how you plan to change out the rear diff when you don't have a jack????
