Goodyear At/s Or Cooper Discoverer Atr Tires?

Okay, I have narrowed my choices down to the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S or Cooper Discoverer ATR tires. I am going to put on a 275/70-17 on my truck and there are few choices or tires in this size. I don't want to go all the way up to the 285s but want something a little bigger than stock. These seem to be about an inch taller and wider. I put a leveling kit on mine, so I think they will fit no problem.

Anyway, anyone have opinions on these? The last set of Coopers I had was Cobras about 15 years ago on a Z24 and only got 12,000 miles on them before the belts were showing. Everyone I talk to say Goodyears are hard to keep balanced and dont wear good at all. Tire shop guy recommends each tire the same. Only $5 difference in the price of each tire. $620 for the set of Goodyear, $640 for the Coopers mounted, tax and out the door.

I like the looks of the Goodyear tread better but I want something that will wear good and be relatively quiet. Mine came with the Dueler ATs factory. Actually really impressed with the traction I've gotten this winter in the snow but they seem noisy and are not wearing good at all. Only 15,000 miles and really getting down low on the tread already. I barely do any off roading, mostly highway driving and snow in the winter. Maybe once a year I go off road with my vehicles and even this it's not hard core.

Just thought someone here might have used either one or both of these tires and had some opinions on them. Thanks in advance for any help.

I just put the Cooper ATR's on my truck in the last 2 months. I think most people on here will recommend the Cooper's over the Goodyear's, at least from what i have read. I like my ATR's. They are not noisy to me, with the radio off you can here them slightly but thats normal for an A/T. The footprint they leave in the snow is a nice design, and does well in snow. I have a RCSB, so there isn't much weight over the rear axle so i do have to use 4 wheel drive more then i do in my extended cab work truck. But overall they are a nice tire, I got the white lettered and really like them. Also the load ratings on mine were C.

I have the Goodyear AT/S and overall I like them. I've got about 20K on them and there is at least 1/2 the tread left. I had Duellers on my truck from the factory and the traction between the two tires is comparable, but I would say the Goodyear is a little better. I only got about 25K out of my Duellers, so the Goodyears are lasting much longer. I haven't had any balancing issues, but my brother has the same tires and has had them re-balanced four times. My Goodyear's are P rated and the sidewalls are much softer than the Dueller's. You don't notice it everyday, but if you tow, you will.
