Newb Needs Quick Answers, About To Buy A 2002 2500hd Truck But It Need

I wish my first post was not asking for help but it is what it is.

I found a 2002 Chevy 2500HD-LS 8.1L CCSB 4x4 w/bucket front seats (tan leather) that I'm very interetsed in buying.

Problem is the interior is VERY dirty. Like think about the interior of a tow truck X's 2.

I think it will at least need new carpet and then major cleaning of everything else. What I need is some links or suggestions for a replacement carpet. Also I will clean the seats but they will still need covers. What do you suggest for nice looking seat covers covers?

How easy is it to clean the door panels?

I need to decide if this truck is worth it for me to buy and then clean up.

Check the links on the website for replacement carpet, you could also try gm parts direct.

Seat covers are very easy to find as well. I've heard weathertech are the best. My interior

was filthy as well when I bought my truck, for the dash and door panels a brillo pad and a

dirt and grime remover worked wonders. I think it's worth it, that 8.1 is an awesome motor,

and will last a long time. I'd post links but I'm typing with my phone. Let me know if you

I'd walk away from a truck that dirty. If they didn't care enough to keep the area they sit in clean I would guess they didn't take care of the truck mechanically either. Maybe they did, but either way it was clearly rode hard. And why didn't they clean it up a bit if they wanted to sell it?

JC Whitney probably carries replacement carpet. I have the GM seat covers and am happy with them for what it's worth. I'd start with "Simple Green" for the door panels.

I'd walk away from a truck that dirty. If they didn't care enough to keep the area they sit in clean I would guess they didn't take care of the truck mechanically either. Maybe they did, but either way it was clearly rode hard. And why didn't they clean it up a bit if they wanted to sell it?

JC Whitney probably carries replacement carpet. I have the GM seat covers and am happy with them for what it's worth. I'd start with "Simple Green" for the door panels.

That's the thing. I know the history of the truck and it seems mechanically sound. It has 98,000 miles cafax says it's clean. Current owner bought it from the original owner (his uncle) at 68,000 2 years ago. Basically he has been hauling junk yard type stuff and just getting in the truck all dirty and grungy. Mechanically it seems average for a 2002 8.1L Allison. T-case was replaced last year. He said it was ran with low/no fluid and it cost $1700 for a new one ( I will assume it was caused by pump rub ). So it has a 1 yr old t-case. Fuel pump was replaced recently. Runs and drives awesome.

Yes, I would be replacing the 2000 F150. Why do you ask?

As long as you're comfortable that's all that matters. Particualrly if you know it's history. Didn't mean to sound like an ass in my first post, after I read my it I think I did. My apologies sir.

And since you are replacing the F150 with this truck, I'd get it. The Chevy could be gutted by fire and still be a better truck. Just picking on ya! Good luck with the new truck, that 8.1 is a beast. Shame we can't get 'em anymore....

My F150 has served me very well. I just want to step up to a bigger truck and this looks like it. I'm just not looking forward to cleaning or replacing a lot of the interior.

buy a ton of mr clean magic ereasers they deepp clean everything from door panels to seats they take any dirt grease oil anyhtiing out there magic and most ppl are slobs so as long as mechanically it seeems good go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and carpets u can try to steem clean but jcwhitney has great replacement carpets and there not hard to do

Ok, I bought it. Got him talked down more on the price. I'm happy with it. First up is the interior, then tires and a muffler. Some body work after all of that.

Now I see why you were concerned. I bet with a bit of elbow grease, that truck is going to look real good. My truck was similar when I bought it, now everyone oogles over it.

wow... luckily the exteriors not in bad conditon... the 8.1 makes up for the bad interior though...

just wondering... im curious how many miles and how much you paid for it?
