I have an '06 GMC 2500HD Sierra 4x4 pickup with a steering problem that I think you would call a "memory steer" problem. The problem is that while driving if you are steering (on a level road) a little to the left and let go of the wheel it wants to continue steering to the left,it does not want to come back to the center, and the same thing happens when steering to the right-whatever direction you're steering it wants to keep going in that direction. When taking a corner the steering does seem to return, just not completely.A wheel alignment was done, adjusting caster, camber and toe to spec.Next, disconnected the outer tie rod ends and checked for tight ball joints(OK).Disconnected idler arm and steering stabilizer to check for binding/tightness(also (OK).Next tried adjusting the steering box (did not help).Next replaced the steering box with reman.unit (did not help). Not sure what to try next-caster is now at the preferred setting-should I increase it to the maximum setting?Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

have you taken it in to the DEALER and have them confirm with a known good truck,I can't believe you put a steering box in your truck.

don't "try" anything ,get it looked at by a professional

i think its normal myself
