Bug Guards And Window Vent Guards

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at the EGR Bug and Window guards for my '08 Silverado Ext. Cab. Anyone on here have a personal preference of better experience with other products?

I'm very interested in this topic as well. In-channel vs. the ones mounted outside. Do your windows still work exactly like original if you have in-channel ones?

Everything I've read said that if you buy the correct in-channel guards, your windows work just the same. Based on what I've read at autoanything.com and other reviews, the EGR in-channel guards seem to work the best.

I just wanted to come here and confirm.

I was loathe to install any that mounted via tape / glue onto painted surface.

Opted for the WeatherTech side window deflectors. German made, channel flange is machined. No issues with window operation. They uninstall / install in seconds. Very convenient for semi annual removal for cleaning any crud / debris in channel.

Are you referring to the ones that cost $120/pair?

I have the EGR in-channel window ones, they are super easy to install, just slip right in. They even come with some double sided tape (not the foam one) that you can use to give it some extra support against the channel. they do come off but you really have to pull on them, nothing too hard though. I also have the EGR bug deflector, at first It was just for looks or so I thought. then I went driving around and compared my windshield to my buddies and there was alot less crud on mine than there was on theirs. The bug Deflector was easy to install and took me 5 min to install allong with the window visors.

Did your bug deflector get screwed on, or taped to the underside of the hood?

I have the GM window and bug guards. The window guards are the exterior tape on ones and I have had no issues with them and they have been on since 2006. The bug guard I ordered paint matched and the thing I like most about it is it blends in with the front of the truck and you barely notice it.

I have AVS in-channel vent visors. They are the only brand I buy! Durable and looks sleek- 100% better than the over-window stick-on ones.

It was screwed on at 4 or 5 points

+1 for Weathertech. I put them on my '05 Suburban. Very easy to install and windows operate normally. The bug deflector on the hood was also a breeze to install. I like Weathertech products; I also bought the floormats for the 'Burb and and I just installed the mud flaps on the truck.
