Need Help Asap!

I have a 1999 Silverado 5.3l with about 183k miles on it, MY "Low Oil Pressure" Light comes on every time im at idle. As soon as i slow down or hit the breaks the Light comes on and my pressure gauge drops to 0. at stop lights i have to put it in neutral and keep it reved at 1k rpm to keep it from coming on and droping to 0 in the little time it takes to let of the gas and switch it to drive it drops again and is at 0 untill i press on the gas. What could this cause be and how do i check it? I know it cant be good and i dont want my engine to lock up because lack of oil. Or oil pressure.

you need to get a master gauge hooked up to the engine to verify the actual pressure is low or if its the cluster gauge

is their oil in it? your sensor is probably toast

yea i checked the oil as soon as i noticed it it was a quart low and i added some in there and some stuff to help fix compression thinking it was worn out motor but still nothin. :-(

wait wait what is some stuff, their isen't such thing as mechanic in a can..if the motors so worn out that it dosen't have compression then its times for a rebuild or a new motor...theres no magic fluid to make the motor regrow itself

lol yea i believe that too, but since the (Stop leak oil) was same price as reg oil i went ahead and put a quart in it lol, Most likely it was just regular oil just with the "Stop leak" title to it lol
