Little Hard To Start?

Recommended Posts

Posted

My 1990 5.7L has always taken what I would call a long time to start, warm or cold. At least 3-4 seconds cranking, or about (4) compression cycles. Cranks fast, strong battery & starter. I have just keyed the ignition On and waited for the fuel pump to prime before cranking, but doesn't affect how it starts.

I have Accell ignition components, timing set stock to TDC I think.

Why won't it light quicker, whats the delay?

Is this typical?

Thanks

I have the same problem with my 95 tbi in the morning. Once it's warm it's just a cycle or two and it fires right up. I have an msd coil on mine.
