Disconnecting E-brake

Does anybody knows on how to disconnect the E-brake on a 2006 chevy 2500 HD crew cab. I'm trying to install ranch hand steps and I am having problems with the brake line rubbing on the steps? I can reroute the line thru the steps if I can figure a way to disconnect the wire.

We just did this to install a body lift. Get ahold of the cable with your right hand using channel locks. Pull toward the rear of the truck and get as much slack as you can. Once you have a bunch of slack, put a pair of vise grips on the cable as close to the cab hole as possible. Then take a pair of pliers, channels, long nose, whatever you want, and squeeze the cable in toward the middle of the connector and it'll pop out.
