Headunit And/or Speaker Problems

I have a 2007 Avalanche 1LT with the stock headunit and speakers. Non-BOSE. I've had a problem for some time now where my passenger rear speaker has no sound. I haven't had the time to take the door panel off and see if there is a loose connection but I noticed the other day that my driver rear speaker seems to be at reduced volume. Then over the weekend I have been having trouble with the radio cutting out all-together. It will be playing my favorite radio station just fine then stop. If I switch presets then come back eveything works again. Then bam, stops.

I'm now thinking I have a headunit problem. Again, this is the stock, non-BOSE headunit. I have changed out stereo systems, speakers, installed amps, etc. in the past but not on anything newer than a 2001 Tahoe. What all is involved? I know I want to keep the chimes, OnStar, and would like to keep the steering wheel audio controls. What all do I need? Any suggestions on what unit to get? I would like for it to be a double-DIN to fill the entire space left behind when the stock unit is removed. Also, any suggestions on where to purchase or is crutchfield the best bet?

Thanks!

You will need

Axxess-GMOS-LAN-01-Interface-Non-Amplified-Systems or Scoshe GM21SR

Metra-95-3305-Installation Mounting Bracket or Scoshe Mounting Bracket

Some Butt Connectors and a set Crimpers

Antenna adapter I got mine off Ebay for like 5 Bucks.

I am pretty thats what you need... As for where to buy that stuff I would suggest just googling the Model numbers and buying it from the best buyer that can be trusted or just off ebay, I got mine from amazon and ebay.

As for the Headunit... I would suggest

Pioneer 3200 *This is the unit I own I just hate the USB being in the front but I just ran the wires back and put them in the dash to the Glovebox*

If you want to step up from that... Go with

Pioneer 4200

There are also Blue Tooth Modules for those or Models with Blue Tooth built in on the 3200BT

If you want a unit that just is a CD player

Pioneer FH-8000

As for where to buy your headunit... I suggest Just Amazon. Crutchfield is a Authorized dealer but they are way overpriced. I bought mine and just bought a 2 year warrenty for 25 bucks off amazon. If your lucky some of the Marketplace people on amazon are Authorized dealers as well Sometimes they drop there prices to match amazons. 6ave is the one I seen do it the most.

I Just did all this on my 2003 Silverado... So I just followed the same steps in figured out what you needed but you might wanna double check everything I posted by just googling it. As for the Steer Wheel Controls I think they vary by your Headunit Manufactor, here is a link to the Pioneer one. Thats one thing Cruthfield is good for... Is tell you all you need then you go buy it cheaper somewhere else.

Before you buy your Headunit search for it on Youtube... I love watching vids of the products I want before I buy them.

*edit.... BTW since you live in texas I think you can install a relay to DVD unit up front so you will be able to move and drive instead of having just the parking brake wire. Its just illegal to watch dvds and drive but is legal to have it hooked up so you can in texas I think. You can see how to install that on Youtube as well.
