Evo Sensor

There's no EVO Sensor in my rig. When I drive down the highway, any flick of my wrist sends my '03 Tahoe jumping to the next lane. After lots of searching I realize I need an ISS as well as an EVO or steering position sensor. So I find one online and go to check my vehicle to make sure it's the same - and there's no sensor on my column. I looked and felt inside the white case as shown in this post http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=49747 and there's nothing there. But, the ISS looks to be newer (bought my Tahoe back in September and have just been dealing w/ the steering since).

So... I did some more digging up in there and couldn't find any male connector plug loose anywhere. What the hell is going on here? I suppose the PO took it to the dealership to have the steering fixed, and in the process of replacing the ISS they removed the sensor to probably replace it too, but forgot to put it back? But where the hell is the plug?

Can someone please send me a pic of theirs from an '03 - '07 model so I can see where the plug comes from and what the sensor looks like? I think it has a 90 degree (right angle) turn in it, unlike the one in the link above which is from an '02 and the sensor is just straight to the plug. Thanks for any help/advice.

It's the unit that tells the power steering how fast you're going and how much assistance to use when turning the steering wheel.

If no one has a pic to post of the base of their steering column, could someone let me know if the sensor is in the same place (at the base of the steering column near the connection to the intermediate steering shaft) as it is in the older models? Thanks.

Um, are you talking about a picture of the base of the steering wheel column near the firewall inside the cab? I can try and get a shot of mine but have no idea if that would be any use to you since mine is a '06 model year and is a truck vs SUV

That is what I am talking about. However, I just talked to the service manager and he told me that starting in '03 some (but possibly not all?) steering was hydraulic not electronic. That could be why I couldn't find the sensor, but that still doesn't explain why the hell my rig feels like I'm driving in ruts then jumps across an entire lane. I've ordered a new ISS, but I think the issue may run deeper than that.
