Im concidering putting Flowmaster 40 series exhaust on my Tahoe.  I heard the sound from them on a Chevy silverado V6 and thought it sounded good.  What do you guys think?  Are they worth it?

yeah, i assume it will be different, but how much?  I assume it will be louder and what-not, but in terms of tone, how much different should i expect it to be?

I have a Flowmaster 40 on my 5.3l Sierra. The interior resonance isn't bad, it is loudest around 2K RPM. With a Tahoe/Yukon, the resonace will be worse.

I have a wav clip of the exhaust from the outside of the truck on my site (url below) if you're interested.

i like that sound.  Are there really any performance perks, or is that just a load of bs.  everywhere i hear something like "oh, you will get up to 15 more hp with perfomance exhaust" but is that really the case?  Thanks.

Well, since you are allowing it to breath better, I'd say there are some gains. I did it mostly for the sweet sound, any performance gains are a plus as this isn't exactly a 'race' truck ;)

when you talk about resonance, is that like a loud annoying vibration, or just a muffled sound of what it sounds like outside?  because i sure as #### dont want something that inside the car will make me lose my mind...

Exactly. Resonance is the 'vibration' inside the cab.  On the pickups, it isn't as bad as the muffler sits below the bed, no the cab.  A lot of guys get the 70 series for the SUVs.

I also have the Flowmaster 50 series (Delta Flow) on my 5.3L Silverado.  One of the main reasons that I purchased them was because they were not as loud as the 40's on the inside of the vehicle.  I experienced excellent performance gains as well.  Definitely worth the money!  I am warning you though.  Once you get the exhaust done, you will want to do the intake as well.  Shortly after I had the 50's installed, I added a FIPK system...great combination.  Good luck!

Im probobly going to do the intake first actually.  That may sound odd, but the reason is because i will probobly have to do some body work to make the exhaust look the say i want it to.  I want a dual setup with 2 3.5" rolled tips comping strait out, but because im putting the Denali bumper on it, it will have to be angled lower to the ground.  I dont want this, so i will have to end up molding the denali bumper so that the exhaust can actually go up into it.  If it sounds weird what i'm saying, go to Special Vehicle Concepts and click on the escalade section, and you will get the gist of what i'm saying.
