78 Chevy Luv Overheating Issues

Not completely sure it this is the correct place to post this but here goes.

I bought 2 chevy luvs instead of a s10 i just think they are pretty cool and classic.

everything looks very clean in the cooling system, i have removed the thermostat thinking it may be stuck shut.

It takes a while but it gets HOT like 230 degrees hot i dunno how much more it can take being aluminum head on cast iron block.

So i have two luvs i took the water pump off the parts one and my good one both look about the same and in good condition, so i dont really know what to check next, all i can figure is head gasket issue?

any ideas of things to check are appreciated.

Hopefully there are some members on here that still remember these little things.

is it the right thermo? i'm not sure what the operating temp is for those...have you tryed checking the flow of the coolant? i mean there may be a small blockage, the fan work?
