Well I am smack dab in the middle of getting ready to move back across the country for the second time in the Sierra  . I will be pulling the 23 Ft toyhauler again from North Carolina to Sacramento. I am doing some upgrades to help out "old blue" and today it started. Got the Diff cover installed, filled it and the front diff with Amsoil Severe Gear. Next will be the Trans Go HD2 and matching Mag-Hytec tranny pan.

Anything else besides regular oil change and overall look you recomend?

Here is a quick picture from the finished product today. (Sorry Cell phone camera)

No, I just checked all fluids and suspension components last time I made the trek across country man. When the time came to change the oil, I found the nearest quick lube place and handed them 5 bottles of oil and a filter...I don't trust they're barrel of mystery.

The last time I took the drive across I had my 04 cavalier...I also used Mobil1 back than.

Nope...its simple....remember the conversation you I and a couple others had the other day about front end...

Also you push on the 4 corners of the truck...really get it going up and down good...than stop pushing step away and see if it bounces for a while or just pretty much stops right away...This tests shocks and struts.

Beer is usually the fix for all that is bad.

Thank for the replies. It will be good to start our next 3 years in northern Cali. Should be a good time that close to Lake Tahoe and Yosemite

Thats why I love our Navy....only two home ports...if your stationed at one...the chances of being posted to the other is next to Nil.

Army and Airforce however are not as lukey.

GO NAVY...

This should be it for me at 22 years. Looking to retire in Tacoma WA, so Sacremento should help us start to plan ahead. It is the closest duty station the Marines have that I can be placed at.

I do love the Navy, It has been a good taxi service for the Mens Deptartment of the Navy (Marines). :dunno::tear:

:(:eek::mad:

Thats a good burn.

We dont really have anything like the Marines...so I guess submarines are as close as it gets for me....

I have a few years left yet before I have to worry about retirement...(17 to be exact, I have a 25 year contract). Been good so far though...I should be a PO2 this year or next...That's about an E6 for you guys I believe. And Now I am a submariner...which is totally awesome.

Thats awesome, 25 year contracts. I just got back from Afghan last month and was with the Brit's who also have the option of 25 years. I wish the US did that so we didnt have to worry about retaining these young guys that think the "grass is greener on the other side". Take care

I hear ya man...we still cant keep them.

Most cases of the grass is greener ends up being a re-enrollment.

I personally love my job. Don't know why these young kids don't want to stay. I mean guaranteed employment for 25 years...than the option to stay till your 60, or sign another 5 years at a time.

All the benefits, pension, cheap rent if you live in Married Quarters....the list goes on.

My only regret was that I didn't join when I was 18...I went off to university instead....IDIOT :banghead:

I haven't been to Afghan yet...I was in the Gulf a year and a half ago with 7th fleet....Did lots of deployments with 3rd fleet, A couple RIMPAC trips, and more training than I can shake a stick at.

I still have it in the back of my mind to go...but I haven't been home for more than a month at a time in the last 3 years. 11 months away a month home...that sounds about right hey...LOL. I think after this course is done I will stay around for a little bit with the wife and kid.
