I have a 2005 sierra Denali and a 2003 Yukon Denali. 1 week ago the light on the 05 came on and has been on every since! I also noticed that when you turn it off and then back on again that the red airbag light flashes 7 times. Any body have any clue as to what could be the issue! On the 03 it came on today and then when I restarted it it was off! I am just not having good luck with airbags these days!!!

Take it to a GM dealer for them to diagnose it. You do not want to fool around where the air bag system is concerned.

I have been having the same issue with my '03 Silverado. The light flashing 7 times at startup is normal. That indicates that the system is doing a self-test. If the light comes on and stays on, that means there is an issue in the system somewhere and the airbag system is shut off. Only the dealer can retrieve the codes from the airbag control module so you'll have to take it there to be checked. A new module costs about a grand so start saving your pennies now.
