Hid Headlights Installed

Well after I seen my buddy's HID lights I decided I liked how they looked and bought some. I can't believe how much difference there is between them. I've just done my low and fog right now. The lows are brighter than the normal high beams. They were very easy to install once I figured out that the GM plug positive wire was opposite of the ballist wire. The kit I bought came with wires to swap that around. I tried a kit from Ebay and they seem to be fine. Xentec is the brand for $39 I figured what they heck. If I don't have any problems out of the low and the fog I'll buy some of the high beams.

bought the same things for my quad, havent installed them yet though. although ive read up on them and a lot of guys have them in their atv's. they seem to work and hold up really well- they get fully submerged in mud and water with no issues.

Tom check out the HIDs if you think your lights make it look like daylight now. You'll be shocked at how much brighter the HID kit is. I'm guessing probably 35-50% brighter than stock. If I pull by my bright switch now I can even see the stockers come on because the lows are so much brighter.

chakis24 I bought some for my atv also but they haven't made it in yet. I'm hoping they will be in today or tomorrow. Blue Polaris atv and Blue GMC, Going to be a blue family. lol

just put mine in today. they look sweet. i got 6000s. i do advise you to be careful when plugging everything together- i ran into some issues with the plugs in making sure they lined up correctly and fit snugly and all that. i also recommend sealing everything. i used both silicone on all the outer, nonelectrical seals and dielectric grease in the plugs. heres the thread showing the before and after pics:

I ordered a set too just for this thread. I am curioous to see just how much of a difference that they make. ONe thing I wanted to ask though...

Am I correct that installing these will mean that I will lose my high beams? I was thinking about going HID all around but just ordered the lowers for now. What is the procedure for keeping the high's until I get them replaced with the HID's?? I read something about a relay, or a diode that needs to be installed. Does anyone have more info on this or perhaps can point me to a thread that outlines how to install, and what to do about the high's??

do you mean for your truck or for a quad? you wont lose your high beams on a quad and a relay isnt needed. i dont think you will on your truck either since you need a ballast for each set of beams. the way it works is you unplug your light bulb and that plugs into the ballast. and then from the ballast to the hid bulb. also, my truck has halogen low beams and hid hi beams, but im not sure of the wiring involved with the truck- i didnt do that myself.

Plug and play, no need to look at a forum on how to install. The only thing I did was test the factory harness to see which wire was positive to make sure it plugged into the correct side of the ballist. Less than 30 minutes you can have all of them installed if lights are easily removed as they are on a 03 gmc.

I believe I'll order the high beams soon. When I turn the current ones on now they look like a house light not a headlight. Very large difference.

Most people say not to install them in your high beams because the switching them on and off is hard on them. Also if your highs and lows don't stay on at the same time, you will have a delay where you have no lights.

I've only installed HID's in high beams in an effort to be considerate to other drivers. Zero problems across 3 different trucks having HID's as highs. If you only go for the high's be sure to-do the 4 light mod.

If you update your low's adjust your lenses very low; meeting hid's head on is very annoying and the cop's are starting to ticket in our area.

I've also put the hid's in atv's. We just put them in our polaris rzr memorial day weekend. Incredible difference; absolutely worth the money.

i agree, my other car is an 85' Trans Am, pretty low to the ground and when people that have made the change come up i am completely blind. also, esp. with lifted trucks that run their fog lights all the time i am blinded by them.

i really believe it should be illegal to have your fog lights on if there is no fog/rain/snow etc, or they should be treated like brights. turn them off when you have oncoming traffic.

I get lights flashed at me with low beams on, this sounds really good. They need a ballast? Does it come with the lamps? Where did you guys get them?
