2010 Sierra 1500 Crew 5.3 Powerpack Needs Tune

Just bought this 2010 crewcab 4x4 with 5.3 and 6 speed auto and 342 gears- says power package option on the window sticker. Only feels really powerful to me in tow/haul mode where shifts are delayed. So if I got it right I need to opt out of onstar diagnostics before tuning with a tuner or getting a blackbear tune. Correct? Also this truck is rated to tow like 9600 lbs in the owners manual. I'd say about 5500-6000 lbs worth of travel trailer plus me the ol lady and 3 kids and camping gear will be about it based on what I'm feeling in the seat of my pants, especially if I need to pull hills. I've had 5.3's and 6.0's before so I know you need to rev this fueckers quite a bit but this 2010 kinda sorta....well... disappoints a bit right now sometimes, not all the time if I catch the gas pedal right and can let the gears work with the powerband of the motor. Feels like heavier truck than what it is sometimes. This is not buyers remorse just the truth of how it feels sometimes. I have about 680 miles on it now.
