2010 3500 Hd Question

I am interested to know if when the ABS brakes start pulsating; does the trailer brakes also pulsate? We usually rent a 3500 HD that has a brake controller built in, but I am not sure if the ABS only feeds the truck or if it feeds both? Thanks for the help.

The trailer breaks are electrically feed, and thus are not connected to the ABS controller.

Hmmm...wonder if having ABS on the trailer will be better? I'm sure it can't be difficuly to pulse the brakes.

Nope

Agree. In fact, the instructions say that the way to adjust the controller is to keep turning up the input gain until you lock up the trailer tires.

Thanks, for some reason I thought the ABS was tied to the controller. Seems like it wouldn't be a bad idea to do for a futre vehicle.

I agree; having a trailer jackknife is not a fun thing. I make sure that I don't have the trailer input gain up so high that my trailer tires lock up.

I read somewhere that the OEM brake controller will reduce trailer brake voltage if the vehicle ABS is active. I think the new HD truck for 2011 goes even further but can't find a web link to support any of my statements, so call them hear say until I do!

Negative Ghostrider.

I was towing a loaded flatbed this last winter, about 8000# total, in the rain, and an idiot in a Prius pulled out in front of me. While it was my instinct to run this little tree huggin' POS over, I refrained and hit the brakes. ABS kicked in, as you can imagine, and I saw the trailer come around locked up. I had the Gain on the DIC, and it never waivered, even while the ABS was pulsing.
