My New Intake Tube

Recommended Posts

Posted

I bought some take off (to small) parts off my buddys Turbo TA and made my new intake tube for my 2007 Silverado. It's 3.5" from the MAF to the TB, then at the TB I used a 4" to 3.5" reducer. Let me know what you guys think.

I know it has to help make a little more HP, but I'm sure it's not much. I did notice a difference in throttle response.

I like it. Nice job. I was thinking about customizing one too, since no one makes one for the '09. I was actually thinking about removing the baffles and piping from the stock tube.

Volant, AFE, K&N are three for sure that make them for the 09's

Hows the difference between stock and your custom job?

The butt dyno likes it but in reality it can only make a small difference. I do think it makes a big diference in throttle response. Next is to cut the front of the box and drop in the K&N filter.

I was lucky enough to find a GMPP intake for my 09, but before I did, I tried the Volant. Ran good at WOT, but under light load, it had drivability issues. Black Bear can tune the truck to overcome this, but we didn't get around to that when he tuned mine. The Volant ran stronger than the GMPP, but not by much.

Others have had good luck with Volant on 09's but more than just myself have taken them off.
