Changing the head unit in a '99 Sierra

I'll be puttin my pioneer CD player in my Sierra fairly soon and i've heard that it messes up the message center when you take out the factory head unit.  Anyone know what i'm talking about?  Also, will my install kit from my old style 99 Silverado work with the new style dash?

I dont think so, i replaced mine with a Pioneer 8400 and had no problems.

 

I cant tell you if you can use that install kit tho.

I don't know about the install kit either, but I've never heard any problems with the message center from changing the radio.
