Hello everyone,

Let's be clear, I am motorcycle nut first and foremost :-) - dirt bikes mostly but have dabbled in playing with trucks over the years. My last real toy was a 425hp BB in a pretty nice 69 Chev 1/2 ton daily driver but when I married and started a family it had to go for a crew cab - the current BB.

The reason I am here is I have been chasing a problem for 5 years and still am no closer to solving it, so I am going to be asking (politely) for a little help. I am in Yellowknife, NWT (ie the edge of the earth) so I am pretty much on my own as far tech support goes.

For reference I am over 45 yrs the rest I'll save for later...

Cheers to all

Mark

NB: I apologize in advance for fumbles I am surely going to make - off to use the search feature!

Thanks guys!

If you get up my way be sure to drop me a line.

Any suggestions on how I would politely ask for some help solving a riddle on my 99 454 - I have spent thousands at the local GM shop and they can't find the problem and have thrown their hands up (after taking my money of course) The simple description is it starts great when cold (even better in winter than summer) - instant 8 cylinder idle. If you run it and get it up to temperature then park it - then come back in 1-2hrs and try to start it, it runs on the starter for 5-10secs and slowly picks up cylinders and then finally starts with a pile of blue/black smoke - its flooding - you can smell the raw fuel 50ft from the truck. The shop has checked the entire fuel system, replaced every marginal sensor, it has 2 yr old injectors, no vacuum leaks, in short there is no explanation for why this is happening but it has now for 5 years - it's consistent if nothing else :-)

I am at a total loss - any suggestions on where to go next

I guy I know who is GM wrench said these 99 454 vortec's just do that and I should stop chasing it - I just can't bring myself to accept that...

Cheers

Mark
