Front Inner Tire Cupping

I have a 2006 Sierra 1500 4x4 light duty truck with approx 43,000 miles. I just recently put on new Michelins, and was told that I had server front inner tire cupping. I have had all my work done at a Qualified GMC dealership, including tire rotation. I was really surprised when the tire technician at another dealership (Costco tire center) showed me the defect in the existing Goodyear Tires...I had lots of tread left on the tires, but had servere inner tire cupping. I was so dissatisfied with the performance of the existing tires in wet weather, even when they were brand new as was the truck. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the original Goodyear tires on a 2006 Sierra 4x4 light duty truck? I always ask them to check my suspension at the GM Dealership, and I have even had a tech ride ride me on 2 occassions because I was hearing a roar, almost like a bearing going bad, and they just did not hear what I was hearing. Now I know it was from tire cupping, and was told by the tire dealership that it is normally caused by a suspension problem. I also have complained the sterring seems stiff, but they say it's fine. If my dealership says everything looks okay underneath, what is causing this problem? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You suspect you have a bad wheel bearing and that is one of the many causes of the tire wear you are seeing. It can also be caused by worn tie rod ends, ball joints or bad shocks.

Thanks, but the dealership says everything looks fine...and checks out...is it possible the tires just had aggressive wear?

No cupping almost always a sign of a bad suspension component someplace and is not caused by an out of alignment situation or normal wear. I would take it to a good shop and explain to them the wear you had with the old tires and let them closely inspect front suspension and shocks.

The only other thoughts I have would be t-bars that have been over cranked or hanging a plow on the front for many miles.

Which Goodyears, Wangerler LS? If so I ran them on my truck for 27K and never had any wear issues. I did have them aligned rotated and balanced every 6k or so. My only complaint is they wear fast than love to throw rocks.
