If you would like to help out a fellow Rider that loved the sport as much as anyone could please do so.

Duning (and desert trips) will never be the same for me and my group of friends without Mike to lead us around, always finding fast smooth lines and getting us back to camp just before dark. It seemed that no matter how far out in the furthest dunes, Mike allways knew the way back. Earning another one of his multiple knicknames "the Gecko" Then the nite time fun began. All I can say about those parts of the trips was what happens in G stays IN G. He sure Knew how to party. Always down to stay up till sunrise ,then another day duning and partying.I dont know how he did it.

R.I.P. Mike. We'll go riding again someday in the clouds.

That sucks man. I go to Soggy Lake in Johnson/Lucerne Valley all the time to ride my dirt bike. It sucks that people had to die. I just hope people don't use this accident as an excuse to close the area or put even more restrictions on offroading.

here is a news article of it..

i feel for the family, and friends of those killed and injured...

BUT.. i have lived in the Barstow area for 30 years now. i use to off road my old 74 Blazer with friends of mine all over the high desert. we always stayed on the old trails that were already there, and we were lucky to hit 25 mph because we were looking at the beauty of the land.. but over the years it got bad up here. more people coming in from out of the area with no concerns for the land, wild life, or of the local property owners. i knew of 3 people that use to run about 500 head of cattle north of Lucerne Valley, and east of Slash-X ranch, but had to stop due to people off roding thru the herds on fenced posted private property..some were chased down by vehicles until they dropped or were just shot dead for fun..

it started getting so bad we started to go heavily armed for our own protection when we would camp for the night..when BLM started to close large area's up here it was the best thing they could of done.

IMO- there should be more strict laws on how people use the area set a side for racing and areas for just riding. i would love to see the areas open to county residents only, and keep the low lifes who come up here and trash the place, and then go home to LA :):lol:

i'm off my soap box for now...
