Hey guys,

New to this forum and had a question. I just purchased a 1993 GMC Sierra 1500 4.3 from my father. The A/C worked fine on it until U-Haul put a brake controller on for him. Since then it has not worked. I was wondering if any of you have and experience with this beyond checking fuses. The truck look fairly simple to work on with all the open area under hte dash and under the hood but i dont know where to start. Its 100 degrees here in Atlanta and need some AC !!! lol

Thanks again for any help!!

Unless the U-Haul people did some really shoddy wiring and somehow cut an A/C cord somewhere, I doubt it's related to the brake controller. Check the A/C fuse and check the refrigerant level. If you have a low refrigerant level, you'll have to bring it in somewhere to have it refilled as the public cannot buy R-12. Now if you want to convert over to R-134a, that's a different story....

So you are saying that the compressor does not kick on at all? You can by-pass the low pressure switch (found at the top of the condensor, under the hood at the firewall) with a paperclip jumper and see if it fires up the compressor. If so, you found your issue. Check the connections on the compressor too, just to be safe.
