Transmission Learning

Ever since i got my truck i haven't really liked the way it's shifted. seems to hunt for gears sometimes and will shift down 2 or 3 gears going up a minor incline.

I got the truck with about 300 miles on it and am wondering if the truck could have tuned it's transmission to those first 300 miles instead of the way i drive? Or does it continually adjust to the most recent driving conditions? Should i be looking at having it reflashed?

Pull the neg side of the battery to reset the computer and see how it effects the adaptive learning process.

The TCM continually adjusts parameters to maintain optimal shifting. However doing what Steven said should speed up the process for you. Unless you have already driven 100 or so miles, in which case it has already adjusted to your driving style.

ok thanks. I have almost 1000 miles since i bought it so it should be all me now. I still am not 100% a fan of the way it works but i do like the smoothness of the shifts and the low rmp running.

Yeah, raising the shift points really wakes it up. Stock it wants to shift to 2nd too soon bogging right off the line under normal throttle.
