Lowing A 2011 Standard Cab Silverado

Hi my name is Jerry Hubbard, I have on order a 2011 Standard Cab 6'6" bed Silverado. I am looking for information on lowering the front 2" and rear 3" to 4". Is there anyone out there that has lowered their Silverado, if so what kit if any did you us, how did it affect the ride, and did you run into anyother issues. I want to do this the right.

I lowered my last Silverado, Clasic reg cab short bed 2wd. I used the DJM kit, if i remember correctly it was 4" front 6" rear. The front was easy, just coil springs. The rear kind of sucked, it was shackles and hangers. Had to torch out the rivets holding on the hangers. IIRC it took about 8 hrs in a shop with a lift. If the kit you chose doesn't have the hangers than it shouldn't be bad at all. I did run into some suspension travel issues, mainly in the back, it would bottom out easily with anything over about 100 lbs in the bed. It would also do it unloaded, but I had to hit a one hell of a bump.

 

With that being said, I would probably stick with no more than a 4" drop in the rear to avoid that. The DJM was a good kit, came with everything I needed and price was good. i can't speak for longevity though, I only kept the truck another 6 months or so, but I see it running around town, still dropped and it's been 4 years or more. Hope that helps a bit.
