Evap Solenoid.......revised

Im making this post to thank all who has given tips on how to fix the evap vent valve solenoid. I have an 06' Silverado LT1 ext cab, that failed inspection, shop wanted to charge me $700. So i came online, found this site followed the advise of others and was able to do the work myself and pass inspection today for only $25. I would have put this post the main topic but forgot where to find it...thanks again to all that contributed to the quick fix...

I think that the $25 replacement part number and the vent valve location diagrams need to be placed in the how-to section or a common issues thread. I spent several hours trying to find the right information before breaking down and buying the new kit. I kept finding conflicting information.
