New Truck Need Exhaust

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just got a 2010 Silverado 5.3L Extended Cab. It has AFM w/FF.

Id like to get some aftermarket exhaust but im new to trucks. Id like my exhaust more for the performance.. mileage, torque, etc with a nice sound but I dont want a extremely loud exhaust.

How does putting in new exhaust affect the active fuel management? Also I dont want to void the warranty...

Can anyone help recommend some. Ive read all the other posts, seems like people recommend corsa/borla?

Thanks!

Corsa Touring hands down from what you've described your looking for. Aggressive sound, but not loud. Borla would be a good choice too. Both were used by GM as there performance exhaust. You're going to get a different sound when it goes into V4 mode, but not horrible especially with Corsa. Quite frankly, I believe corsa would be the better exhaust with the noise canceling technology built in. :)

You can often find the single exit touring or sport for under $500

I put a Gibson cat/back on my 09.I also had AFM on my truck. When it changes to v8-v4-v8-v4 ect,it sounds like CRAP..I used a Super Chips tuner and disabled the AFM . While I was at it ,I gave it a 87 octane performance tune ,and increased transmission shift pressures. The truck RUNS BETTER,Shifts are firmed up,and sounds GREAT..Hope this helps...J.H. :) If you have to return your truck for service, you can return to stock tune with the tuner. :P

Don't get me wrong... the Corsa has a ferocious sound out the rear and you can def. hear it in the cab. Noise canceling tech is the lack of drone. Other exhausts can NOT claim that. Hell, the $500 has been posted several times on this site. Do a search in the for sale section.

you don't need new exhaust, you just might want to spend 2 hours, cut off the existing and just put a side exit on it for less than 80 dollars.... just my opinion, search my username for detailed photos and the video is in my sig. fuel mileage went up for me, maybe 1.5 gallon/mile.

fyi, i kept the resonators, the cats, and the y pipe. i like it, but not everybody does and it can be WICKED loud especially in a tunnel
