Diesel Stations All The Same Quality?

Sorry for the dumb questions lately but I have another one. When buying diesel fuel for your trucks which stations do you guy avoid (if any)? In the gas world I’m a Chevron man and avoid the no name or lesser named gas station. Is the same true for diesel fuel? Are some better than others?

Best choice you can make it to stick to the top tier stations. Out here, it's Philips66/Conoco, Shell, & Diamond Shamrock. You can't go wrong with Chevron, they have some of the best additive packs in their fuels out there.

i just stay away from the small mom and pop gas stations, the ones that see more traffic are the ones that have a fresh supply of fuel on a regular basis...i got watery gas one time back in the day at a little hokey family gas station and i'll never risk that again

I try to buy fuel at places that sell alot of it too... The last thing you want is to pick up some watery fuel! Truck stops usually have the freshest (and cheapest) fuel around.

YES, stay away from no name stations and mom and pop type joints. I think it is even more critical to get high quality diesel than gasoline.

As others have stated, if you like Chevron stick with them, because I have heard from several people that I know who work in the oil indusrty that they have some of the best fuels and additives. If I'm not mistaken I also recall reading something a while back that Chevron supplies new GM vehicles with fuel that roll of the assembly line. Also when you go to the GM parts counter and ask for fuel system cleaner, you are getting Chevron Techron in a bottle with a different label.

I'd buy their fuel exclusively if only they had stations on the east coast.

I stick with stations with newer poly tanks and only the top Tier 1 suppliers: in Oregon like Cheveon, Union 76, Shell, etc.

I had a friend buy fuel at a small discount station at the Oregon coast and his fuel filter went from 93% to zero by the time

he drove 80 miles. Not good. My local Chev dealer says most of their Duramax issues are poor fuel.

Best bet is to buy at high volume stations. I get around a bit of the issue with a 98 gallon tank in the rear in addition to the 34 in the frame. Real truck stops are usually good. Pilot, Flying-J, TA, etc. But, definitely, stay away from the little places unless you know them.

OMG I wish we still had Chevron here in Jersey, the fuel from them was always a favorite of mine to use. With diesel, I would never fill up with diesel from some unknown, always went with Exxon, Hess, and Shell.
