'88 Gauge cluster

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.  New member to the board.  I just picked up an '88 GMC K/1500.  It's an SLX, 5.0L, auto with 185K miles.  It has the cheap gauge cluster (speedo, fuel level, and lots of idiot lights).  I'm looking to swap the cluster out for a newer one ('92-'94 will fit, from what I've read, but the connector may be different).  My question for those in the know, is if I swap the cluster out (and get the proper connector wired up if necessary) and I put in the proper senders for oil pressure and water temp, do I have to do anything else for them to work?

I did a similar swap with my '94 Impala (put in a '95 Z/28 cluster) and I had to cut out a resistor on the oil pressure circuit for it to work correctly.

Any tips/info would be greatly appreciated!
