96 Silverado Running Taillights

My buddy's 96 silverado running taillights will not work. All the fuses are good, brake and turn signles work fine, just not running taillights for some reason. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have a manual but its not much help. Thanks!

What is a running tail light? Not being a smart ass.

I'm presuming he means the normal rear night lights and not the brake lights?

Yeah. I didn't want to get the two mixed up. Wasn't sure what to call them. After spending hrs on google, I think the headlight switch could be bad. If not I guess I should look for a bad wire. Every time my buddy needs to drive home at night I have to follow him, so I am gonna try to get his tail lights fixed, lol.

When you turn the light switch on to the first position for marker lights, do the marker lights come on the front of the vehicle? How about the dash lights? Check your fuses first, in the panel on the left side of the dash when you open the door. Check your connector at the rear of the truck behind the bumper also.

You may have a short in the turn signal switch, this happened to me on my 95. Later.

My buddy got his truck fixed. The wire harness was all melted together. He picked up a used one for $10. Dealer wanted $1500 for a new one.
