Removing Mirror Caps Without Busting Clips Gmt900

I just took off my crappy mirror cap (textured) and want to know if anyone has done this effectively without busting the bottom clips? What is the best way to remove? (start at the top, pry from the bottom ect). I have new DL3's and am having the caps painted but wanted to put the mirrors on with my crappy caps until the others got painted with my new door handles.

Good luck. I pulled mine off, starting at the bottom. One came off nice and easy, the other broke 2 clips.

Yea, I think I'll just wait and have them paint the mirror caps while they are on the mirrors. Then replace the entire mirror when I replace the door handles. I guess I can last a little longer without painted mirrors haha. I went from the bottom, it helped a little bit but still no way really to get around breaking things.
