Oil Leak - Rear Main Or Cps Or ?

Hello,

I have a 2004 Sierra SLE 4x4 ext cab with the 5.3. The Truck currently has 72,800 miles on it. I just replaced the Autotrac 4x4 switch to remove the service 4wd message and would like to tackle finding where my oil leak is. After every drive, I have a dime spot of oil in the drive way and the leak appears to be getting a little worse.

I've searched the forum and *hope that my leak is from the Crack Position sensor. My starter has oil dripping off the bolts but, as of now, I have oil residue from the starter to the oil drain pan. I need to rule in or rule out the Rear Main.

Some posts mention an inspection plate/plug on the bell housing. Can someone point me to where the Bell Housing inspection port is?

I have three main items to check, Oil Pain, Rear Main and Crank Position sensor. Are there any other items I should take a look at.

Thanks,

There is an inspection cover on the bell housing right behind the oil pan. Remove it and look and see if there is oil inside on the flywheel. If there is then it is the rear main seal if not then that isn't leaking.
