hrspwr Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Hey guys, I have been looking to play my Ipod on my factory stereo. I have the Bose system with onstar but without xm. I have read that there are a couple of ways to do it. One is to solder in a 3.5mm jack and then hook up the Ipod that way. I am not sure if that will work on my system as I do not have XM and I think I read somewhere that I need to update/flash the radio to do so, Is that true? The other route is this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12222_PAC-uPAC-GMC2.html Has anyone ever used one and are they any good? There is a big price difference and that is why I wanted to know what you think and your opinions/help. Thanks
[email protected] Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I can't speak from personal experience because I have an aftermarket deck. But my friend has one of those pac ipod connector things and it's really nice. It turns your ipod off when you turn the truck off, it allows you to change songs from the radio and steering controls. But, it did get XM error the other day and he called me to fix it, and I just pulled the radio fuse and it reset the pac and now it's good again.
hrspwr Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Ya I like that unit, looks pretty clean. But if I can get away with doing it for less then I will, just need to figure out how. I saw a post either here or another site where someone did it, all they did was solder in a jack and it worked. I would like to see how it is done or if anyone has done it how to do it.
rebelman06 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I can vouch for the PAC iSimple interfaces. I have installed one in my truck and one in my sisters Pontiac G6. The sound quality is great and the wiring harnesses are plug and play and look factory.
