Why?

I would like to here specifically why you own a GM product,or for the non GM owning memebers why you don't own one.

I personally have owned two Fords,a Truck and a Mustang and they are the two reasons why I don't own Ford products.Although I do believe they have some good products,my past luck is the reason I choose not to own one now.

I also will not own a Mopar product due to the luck that we had with my wife's Grand Cherokee and the way her parents two Dodge trucks have treated them.

I know this may be just isolated experiences but the fact is that I've had good luck with GM and that's why I stick with what has worked for me.

Anyone that posts over at PUTC has probably heard this from me, but I'll tell the story again.

I owned a 1983 T-Bird, the first new car I ever had. It had quite a few computer/fuel injection problems and the Ford Dealer treated me like crap. The Ford DM would not help, and niether would Dearborn HQ. They simply didn't care! This particular dealer had a history of customer satisfaction problems but Ford was not concerned. I fought that car for three years. I also didn't visit another car dealer until 1990.

I went car shopping with my Mom to help her out after my Dad died. She didn't want his big ol' Caddy. The Oldsmobile Dealer in Sylvania, Georgia was awesome. He set both of us up in good deals, and I told him that my Mother had never had to take care of a vehicle and was going to need help. He called and checked up on her for a full year to ensure that she was comfortable with her own servicing. In about 1997, she bought again from the same dealer and is still happy with them. I think she probably pays a little more for service, but I also think the attention is worth it.

I bought again from an Olds dealer in Brunswick, Maine in 1995. Couldn't be happier with warranty work and service in general. When I saw my current P/U on a Ford lot in 1997, I knew that I had to have it. I knew the previous owner and the history of the truck, we just could not reach an agreement on price. I called this Ford dealer, talked to a salesman, and was told to "find your buddy and ask him what salesman he dealt with". Apparantly, the salesman that I talked to could not spot the only Chevrolet Crew Cab on their Ford lot! After finally getting the owner of the dealership, I was "allowed" to purchase my rig (from the owner of the dealership, I told him that his sales staff could bite me).

Pete Moore Chevrolet in Pensacola, FL has done warranty work on this rig with the utmost professionalism and courtesy.

It is not the quality of the vehicles that keep me with GM, all vehicles break down, and all manufacturers sell lemons. GM has stood behind their product as PEOPLE, and has treated me better than Ford.

Dodges are too dang ugly.

1: Every Ford I have every owned (64 Custom, 68 T-bird, 87 Aerostar, and 92 Tempo) gave me fits with problems.

2: I am more familar with GM V8s than Dodge as I own a 1986 Trans Am

3: Toyota is too expensive, even if they are rated more dependable.

4:No one else makes a full size pick-up.

I grew up with alot of GM products and just liked them alot.  We did have a Ford truck from '79 or '80 and it had alot of problems.  Dad has an '86 Dodge Ram 250 that has been a really good truck.  We also had a '79 Cougar that was a great car.  I bought it from my mom and dad when I joined the Air Force and kept it until I sold it to get my '91 Silverado.  After becoming an adult (supposedly), I've always liked the styling of GM vehicles better than the rest.  I've never owned or been to big on imports.  Don't think I ever will either, unless I absolutely have too.

All our vehicles are GM.  My pops works at GM.  My first truck had 220,000 miles and ran like a champ, very few probs for me.  Nothing yet with my personal second gm.

Family that lives and works for Ford in dearborn only drive Fords.  Same reasons.

Also the Family that works at chrysler drives their vehicles also.

So basicly, its that we're proud of Buick City (RIP) and the buick/GM name since it is also the least outsourced Manufactuer of vehicles.

I have had Dodges and Fords and that is why I now drive GM. On my third Z71 and loved all three. My latest has come in into my possesion as of last Friday and is by far the finest of all trucks I have ever owned.
