Radio Issues

I have a 2009 gmc sierra slt with rear seat dvd. I have the normal radio up front though, not the nav.

 

A couple weeks ago on longer highway drives, the head unit itself started making sounds. Almost like it had a fan to keep it cool or something. I didn't think much of it.

Now I'm starting to hear it on shorter drives in the city.

 

Just wondering if this is normal or if it has happened to anyone else

YES. I have a weird almost buzzing sound that I can hear when I play a CD in my 07 that's not present when I use the radio or aux input for an mp3 player. Mine's done it since I bought it in June, and I wondered if it was an issue in the making or just normal. I haven't been too worried about it, since I've been too squee about the ease of plugging in an mp3 player and forgetting about it, but now I am since it sounds like yours started small and got worse/more persistant.
