Tranny Question**

So here's the deal guys:

my truck= 2000 silv 1500 with 5spd manual tranny (nv3500)

She needs some transmission work done, and seeing as how I'm running a lift and oversize tires, I'm thinking of a tranny upgrade while it's up on the lift. So, that being said; will the nv4500 bolt right up to my 4.8L motor in place of the nv3500? or will I need an adapter? Because the ONLY reason i'm looking at the nv4500 is because of the potential bolt-on factor. If it isn't possible to bolt the 4500 right in, would it be possible to beef up my current tranny at all? Do they even make such a thing as HD transmission parts? Hopefully you guys can help me out...

Thanks again

Anything can be done if you have enough money. They do make HD parts for transmissions, but I'm certainly not the one to ask where to find them.. :P

I'm sure the NV4500 will bolt up, but .. if it's anything like swaping the 4L60e for the 4L80e, you'll need an adapter plate, output shaft may be different, drive shaft may need shortened and the cross member may need relocated. Otherwise, it's easy...

I've not heard of anyone doing the swap on this site, but maybe a quick search on the site could do you wonders, along with googling it.

I found this,.. looks like some good info
