My First Truck

Hey my name is karl. i am from southern wi. I have had a couple of cars but have always wanted a truck. I am seventeen and this is my first truck. I payed 1200 for it about a month ago, it is a 1989 GMC sierra 4X4. It sits just the way i want it to and i love the way it looks, drives, and feels in general. One of the best feelings being up in the drivers seat shifting though the gears. It has a 350 from an IROC camaro, tbi, headers, flowmaster muffler, sounds nice, and a 5-speed.The only things i really want to do to it is to get some tires that wil get me out of slippery situations, and paint it this spring, maybe fix some rust. Here it is89gmc.jpg

I thought the price was right, so i went for it! The five speed is a lot of fun now that i have gotten used to it!

Nice Truck. I have an 89 with the stick as well. I can promise you that rig will take one heck of a beating and keep going!

I have a stock 305 in mine that just won't die. I am going to get a new Goodwrench 350 in the spring.

Enjoy!

Nice Truck :dunno: . I got my 1984 High Sierra last April for my 17th. I like the paint on your truck. I would get it repainted the same colors. Unless you want something different. I plan on repainting my truck the original tan/rust brown 2 tone after i get some body work done on it. Got some rust holes under the rocker panels. Never driven a manual before. Im sure they are fun to drive, but I prefer not to worry about shifting while driving so I can mess with the radio and stuff. Your truck looks like it was maintained really well. It looks really clean and like theres almost no rust on it. You got a better deal than I did though. I paid 1500 for mine. But I prefer the 350 to the 305. The 350s just seem a lot faster.

Its been a blast so far! The tranny is what really makes it for me, i really enjoying getting it just where i am satisfied before i shit when i am cruising the back roads. I enjoy driving in the country a lot and when its stick it just puts you closer to the truck. I think everyone should know how. The rut isnt horrible, but that rusty colors hides the rest that it does have. The 350 will get up and go when i want it to, and that fuel gauge.....well it will probably just stay at full because its a POS but it gets around 12

The next big project I have for mine is pulling the 4L60 out and putting in a 5 speed, but it'll probably wait until I get something else to drive everyday and this one becomes the toy. :P But since the day I bought it, that's been the plan. And I'm ready - I'd pick a manual over auto ANY day!
