Sub placement?!

Anyone got a good idea of a place to mount a sub? I dont wanna waste my under seat space in the back. Used to be a company through crutchfield that made special enclosures for vehicles to utilize unnecessary space. BTW, its an 03 1500 ext z71. I dont really want a bass machine, just something more than stock with a "little" rumble.

Thx Tweeter,

but i have the leather bench with flip-up console/armrest. Nothing will fit in there. Maybe something can fit behind the rear seat? Even just one 10in would work if it'll could be fitted behind the seat or elsewhere, #### anywhere?!

Check out the new Crutchfield magazine if ya get it, or try Crutchfield's Website.  They have a new sub enclosure from Clarion I believe.  Mounts where the cup holder area is on the center console.  Since you have the bench, and an auto trans, you could look into that option.  Don't no much about it tho, just saw it while thumbing through the flyer in the "men's library".

I had the same problem, want great sound but do not want to loose the space.

So, I placed two 8 inch subs in the rear doors of my extended cab. I (or the installer) cut a the plastic pocket out, made a box in the door.

It sounds and looks great, when the seat is down the rear seat is down it covers up the speakers so you can not tell anything is there.

I found this to be a perfect solution, all except the cost.

I will post pics when I get them if people are interested.

You will be hard pressed to get anything behind the rear seat besides some amps.   I am currently but slooowly mounting my soundstreams behind the rear seat.  I have decided to go either with the JL stealthbox or a custom box under the rear seat on one side.  I looked into the console one, but didn't want to loose the cavernous console room.  Either way some space will have to go.  I am like you and don't want to be too intrusive witht the setup, but that is the price you pay to warm it up a little. :jester:

I have the JL stealthbox and love it. I was like you guys and hated to give up any space but I thought that this was the best place. I love it and am totally over the lost space.check out my pics in my sig.

I'm using the custom box from Q-Logic. It matches the interior colors and fits perfectly. Fits flush with the seat with it down. Sub points down and vents forward. Even with the doors open no one notices it unless I turn up the volume. Then the mouths drop open.

Does anyone like them make something that fits behind the seat or under the rear seat in a Crew Cab?  or will some powered bazooka tubes fit?

I'd like to go 2 10's.

Me too, I have a 98 crew cab and I would like to get a box to  fit my 2 10" MTX sub in a downfiring box, the only problem I have is that nobody makes a sub box for this truck, all I have found is boxes for the Ext. cab  :chevy:
