Bullet Liner?

I am in the process of getting a bed liner for my truck. I had Line-X in my previous truck and thought to call the place that did my last one, BUT, they informed me that they no longer do Line-X that they now do Bullet Liner. I didn't get to talk to the owner of the local shop. Seems one of the young workers answered and didn't seem to know much other than "it's better than Line X which is why we switched."

 

I looked them up at www.bulletliner.com, but, their website doesn't really seem to offer too much info. Additionally, they don't seem to have too many dealers yet. It looks like they just came out as a product and were at the 2010 SEMA show. Their website does say that they are supposed to offer superior fading resistance. That was the one thing I didn't like about the Line-X was that it faded in what seemed to be a month when I had to move the truck out of the garage.

 

Anyone have any experience with this Bullet Liner stuff?

No experience with bullet liner. I would stick with Line-X. My last truck had Bullhide liner that was the new next best thing. Dealer installed so i had no option. Anyway, Bullhide went out of business so my lifetime warranty was worthless. This truck I have now has Line-X with Xtra. Supposed to stop or slow fading. Time will tell.

The one thing that bothers me about the Line-X Premium and Rhino Super-whatever, is the fact that they are saying you need to pay extra for a product that will look good longer. Why don't they just make it that way in the first place instead of having an inferior product that will "protect" your bed but look like crap after a short while for a not so cheap price to begin with?

 

Anyway, I've been emailing a couple of the distributors of Bullet Liner, as well as, the main corporation. Heard back pretty quickly and learned some interesting facts that I'll post about later. I think I might try it out and see how it goes.

Any update on this? I called the shop in Oceanside as well and was told the same stuff. Im with you on the fading issue of Line X etc...

Oceanside did the LineX on my previous truck and they do awesome work. The shop has been around for a long time and the owner says they will stand by the product. He explained to me why they switched. Without bashing LineX he told me that Bullet is a superior product. The guy who invented LineX sold the company and name about five years ago. His chemical company developed a new coating and he decided to start a new venture instead of selling the compound.

 

So far, the dealers that have signed on with Bullet Liner are former LineX dealers who have jumped ship, like Oceaside. I went to the shop and spoke with them in person and they showed me some examples. I was impressed, especially with the much lower price over LineX Premium.

 

I will be getting Bullet Liner sprayed on my truck next week!

Thats the impression I got when I called the Oceanside shop, researched the Burtin company and made calls.

 

Post up some pictures. I live in Ramona and drive a dodge but this GM site was the only place with any type of forum review so I signed up to chat haha!

 

I should have mine done in the next couple of weeks...just need to find time to drive down!

Not the kind of company I would feel comfortable doing business with. I will say this much though, LINE-X has been around longer and until Bullet Liner has 15+ years to back their reliability claims, I'll avoid them. Yes I am picky.

 

As for the fading issue- Even the anti-UV fade stuff doesn't work well after a few years from what I've been told. (In particular up here at high altitude) The sun is going to get it somehow someway. I for one really could care less about UV fade, I use the back of my truck to haul things in, not to show off to people about how shiny and pretty it looks. It is a truck, after all.

I know what you mean. I am picky too when it comes to spending my hard earned cash. I find it a little comforting to know that the same company who developed the Line-X coating and name is behind Bullet Liner though. As far as the truck looking pretty, I wouldn't mind so much if it was a work truck, but, being in SoCal, I try to keep my 40k-ish truck looking semi-decent from the leather inside to the bed outside. If I could afford a bigger garage, the sun would not be an issue! But, until then... if my paint and interior don't fade, the bed better not either! haha...

I will be anxiously awaiting pics. I want to do my '97 Sierra with Line-X and don't want it to fade either. I live in Tucson and the local (only one) guy quoted me $620 out the door. Thought that was a little steep, but don't think it would be worth the extra gas to drive to Phoenix. Let us know what your impressions are when you get it done.

A shop here quoted me Line-X Premium (UV resistant), over-the-rails for $650!

 

When I had my previous truck done about 6 years ago, it was 400. That's like what, a 40% difference? Go figure...

Why would it go up? If anything it should be cheaper after 6 years of Line-X banking off of these. Shipping costs???
