Hello, I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 2WD, its a 4.3L V6. Can someone tell me where the Camshaft Sensor is easiest to get to, and how hard of a job this will be to replace it?

thanks.

In the distributor. Just take dist. apart until you get to it. You might go find a manual.

Thanks guys, I changed the sensor last night but according to my code reader/diagnostic tool, the timing is still showing retarded -21 degrees. Thats what it was reading before changing the sensor as well. Any thoughts on what else it could be? Distributor?

You may have to do a crank relearn, but also make sure that the dizzy is not out a tooth on the cam gear. I know that the actual housing of the dizzy can only go in one way(on the newer stuff, not the older style they are adjustable), but the gears can go it anyway. The best way to match the gear teeth up are to put the number 1 cylinder at top dead center on the combustion stroke(both valves closed) and place the distributor rotor tip where the number one plug wire goes on the distributor cap(i know on the oldschool small blocks all you had to do was place the rotor tip to the number one cylinder, but I am not sure if it is the same with the crab style distributor cap).

Okay, from what I understand its my distributor. I done some reading and learned there was a bulletin saying the AC line running atop of it can leak onto it causing corrosion. Anyone had this fixed? Estimate of what its going to cost me?
