Tilt Wheel Lever Removal

I have a need to pull of the plastic around the column on my 02 Avy to fix my cut tow/haul wire and I cannot figure out the details of how that plastic lever comes off or out. Any insights??? I figure it's best to ask first before I need to go to the dealer for replacement parts too...

These are the instructions mitchell gives

 

Removal Procedure

1. Pull the lever out of the steering column

 

Installation Procedure

1. Align the lever in the steering column

2. Push the lever into the steering column

 

Seems simple enough
